Netflix, which has been under pressure owing to their airing of the film Cuties, depicting young girls in a hyper-sexualized and pornographic manner, is now facing heat not only in the court of public opinion, but the court of law.
Texas House Representative Matt Schaefer announced yesterday on Twitter that a Texas Grand Jury had approved an indictment of the company, for “lewd exhibition of pubic area of a clothed or partially clothes child who was younger than 18 yrs of age which appeals to the prurient interest in sex.”
In spite of the backlash, Netflix is continuing to stand by the film. iFamNews has been a leading force in putting pressure on the company, particularly in non-English speaking markets, with a global petition campaign.
It remains to seen whether this newest development will finally bring Netflix’s executives to their senses; however, their conduct so far has already been a substantial betrayal of trust and an insult to customers, which is why iFamNews continues to urge readers to Say No To Netflix.v
