As many as 54 percent of Germans are in favor of the German government supporting large families in order to counter the shortage of skilled workers in the long term. This is reported by the Catholic weekly newspaper Die Tagespost with reference to a survey conducted on its behalf by the opinion research institute INSA Consulere.
Respondents to the representative survey were asked to comment on the following statement: “The federal government should support families with many children in order to counteract the shortage of skilled workers in the long term.”
While 54 percent of respondents favored support for large families, 25 percent said they are against it. The survey showed that 18 percent of the participants did not know how they felt about the question, and 3 percent did not want to respond.
The survey was conducted from December 2 to 5 and included 2,008 adult respondents.
