Kentucky legislature overrides woke Democratic governor to protect female sports

A woke Democratic governor vetoes a bill designed to protect our daughters and ensure fairness in sporting events. And a sane Republican legislature overwhelmingly overrides that veto.

The Kentucky General Assembly

As we all know from reason and experience, it is unfair to allow biological males to compete against females in sports. Males are generally stronger, faster, and bigger than females and the advantage males have over females in sporting events ranges from 10% to over 50%. Indeed, this is why since the beginning of time males and females have competed in separate categories in sporting events.

If you do allow biological males to compete against females, unfairness clearly results. This can be clearly seen in the case of Lia Thomas, a biological male who “identifies” as a woman and is allowed by the woke NCAA to compete on his college’s female swim team. When he earlier competed on his college’s male swim team, he was a mediocre competitor at best; however, when he was allowed to compete as a female, he instantly dominated the field and this past March won an NCAA national championship. Likewise, had men been allowed to compete against females in the 100 meter freestyle swimming event at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, the best female’s time would have put her in 56th place.

To prevent such absurdities in sporting events and to protect our daughters, numerous states have enacted bans prohibiting biological males from competing in sports against females. When the Kentucky legislature (General Assembly) passed a bill doing this (prohibiting male-born athletes “identifying” as females to compete in female sporting events in grades 6-12 and college), woke Democratic Governor Andy Beshear vetoed it. Like almost all Democrats, an unwavering commitment to the radical transgender agenda took precedence over common sense and fairness.

However, the Kentucky General Assembly, both of whose chambers are controlled by Republicans, overwhelmingly overrode the governor’s veto on April 13, 2022, making Kentucky the 15th state to protect our daughters in sports. While the Kentucky constitution requires only a simple majority vote in each house to override a veto, the Kentucky Senate (29-8) and House (72-23) voted with super-majorities to override the woke governor and to send a clear message to woke Democrats around the state and country. As reported by the Washington Times, Republican bill sponsor Senator Robby Mills declared:

“The General Assembly stands with female athletes all over the state of Kentucky and everywhere in this nation, and we want to encourage their hard work and achievements.”

David Walls, executive director of the Family Foundation of Kentucky, likewise stated:

“Today is a great day for women and girls in Kentucky. Biology matters and female athletes deserve a fair and level playing field…[W]hen males are allowed to compete in girls’ sports, they take championships, recognition, and opportunities that belong to female athletes. Thankfully, with [this bill] becoming law, girls in Kentucky can know they have a fair opportunity to compete and take advantage of sports opportunities meant for them.”

So there you have it. A woke Democratic governor vetoes a bill designed to protect our daughters and ensure fairness in sporting events. And a sane Republican legislature overwhelmingly overrides that veto. Let’s hope that more states will pass laws to protect our daughters and that legislatures will not be cowed by woke governors vetoing such measures. Females across our country—and our sanity—require no less.
