Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach is seeking to uphold the state’s Right to Know law, which aims to provide women with comprehensive information about the risks and alternatives to abortion. The law, known as the Woman’s Right to Know Act, has been in place since 1997 and ensures that women seeking abortions are fully informed and give voluntary consent to the procedure. Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers in the state are challenging the law, claiming it restricts access to abortion.

Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys are serving as co-counsel with Kobach’s office in the case, Hodes & Nauser v. Kobach, arguing in support of the law. The Woman’s Right to Know Act mandates that women receive information about the risks involved in abortion, as well as details on medical, legal, and financial assistance available if they choose to carry their pregnancies to term.

The lawyers argue that providing women with this information empowers them to make informed decisions about their pregnancies and highlights the importance of protecting the lives of both mothers and their unborn children. They emphasize that doctors have a duty to inform patients about the development of their unborn children and the potential dangers of abortion.

The case holds significance for the state of Kansas and the rights of women to have access to complete and accurate information about their choices. The attorneys are urging the court to uphold the law in order to protect the health and welfare of current and future residents of Kansas, affirming the state’s authority to regulate the medical profession in the interest of its citizens.
