Hungarian ruling party Fidesz has set forward a referendum that will crack down of pedophilia and the promotion of LGBTQ+ agendas to children, which has received scrutiny from the European Union.
The law will ban homosexual themes in school and media material for children. It explicitly prohibits “content that depicts sexuality for its own sake, or promotes or displays deviations from the identity of the sex of birth, gender reassignment or homosexuality.”
Child pornography is also being cracked down upon, with a new sex offender registry being created, and sex education being restricted to programs created by the Hungarian government.
The referendum has received overwhelming support from the Hungarian public, with 73 percent of Hungarian adults saying that children should not be taught about sexual orientation without parents’ permission, and more than 90 percent saying that sex change procedures should not be promoted or made available to minors.
