California-based Glassbrook Elementary School faced controversy after reportedly spending $250,000 on “Woke Kindergarten” training sessions to combat racially-based bias and discrimination in classrooms. The training, conducted over two years, came under fire for its left-leaning political rhetoric with anti-police, anti-capitalism, and anti-Israel narratives.

These sessions, part of a federally-funded initiative aimed at assisting low-performing schools, have not delivered the expected academic improvements. This outcome has raised concerns among teaching staff, with several questioning how concepts like “disrupting whiteness” apply to an elementary school setting.

One teacher, Tiger Craven-Neeley, was temporarily barred from the program after inquiring about the vague objective. Test scores at Glassbrook Elementary School have reportedly decreased noticeably under the program, signaling that its implementation might not be effective in bolstering academic performance.

Even though the choice for hiring Woke Kindergarten was sanctioned by the school board and supposedly included inputs from parents and teachers, it has come under criticism for pushing a one-sided agenda and intolerance towards differing viewpoints. The school and Woke Kindergarten have yet to comment on the matter.
