UK journalist arrested on charges of "transphobia" against a biological male self-identifying as a woman

Caroline Farrow, 48, a Catholic, is a British journalist and commentator who primarily covers “[…] issues related to Catholicism, feminism, and the challenges of motherhood and family life.” Farrow has five school-age children and is married to Robin Farrow, a former Catholic priest who converted to Anglicanism a few years after marriage and is currently the pastor of a parish in Surrey, England. The journalist is also responsible for the UK and Ireland campaigns of the pro-life and pro-family website CitizenGO.

On October 3, this slim, petite woman was arrested in her own home, in front of stunned and upset children, while an officer seized every electronic device in the home.

The charge? “Transphobic” online hate against Stephanie Rebecca Hayden, born biologically male as Anthony Halliday and known as such until 2018, who now self-identifies as a woman.

In fact, Hayden’s legal battle against Farrow dates back to at least 2019, and British justice had already intervened in the past to settle the issue between the two, due to an exchange of tweets which the former found offensive and on par with serious harassment, and the issue from a legal and bureaucratic perspective is rather tangled.

Today the accusation being leveled against Caroline Farrow is that she posted messages in the form of “memes,” deemed “transphobic,” on a rather controversial online forum called Kiwi Farms, which is now virtually blacked out. There would be no evidence to support these claims, however, outside of a so-called “third party” who allegedly claimed that Farrow was the owner of the online accounts responsible for posting the content in question. Farrow has categorically denied that the two profiles, “RealMuthaForYa” and “Kit Kat,” belong to her or are in any way traceable to her.

Also contributing to the accusation was a tweet posted by Caroline Farrow last summer, in which she gave notice of a lawsuit filed against her by Hallyday/Hayden, referring to the plaintiff using male pronouns.

Back in 2020, the plaintiff, under the name Stephanie Rebecca Hayden, filed a civil suit accusing several other people of using Kiwi Farms’ username “RealMuthaForYa” to spread hate messages online. Hallyday/Hayden by the way is no stranger to fiery legal battles centered on accusations of self-styled harassment and insults of discriminatory content regarding transgender people spread through social and media platforms.

Caroline Farrow was later released and now waits for the continuation of the investigation and the court process.
