Black Friday: discounted children

A "Black Friday" for surrogate moms. Black, indeed... for a culture sinking quietly to the depths of depravity.

How long to sing this song?

“A baby like a washing machine: you can buy it at a discount. From Ukraine, the Disneyland of pregnancy for others, comes the latest stroke of marketing genius: a Black Friday for couples who are waiting for an incentive to go and find a criminal lab outside their borders, where the laws are bent to the logic of the market.”

Yesterday an editorial in Avvenire by Antonella Mariani described a gruesome situation.

In Kiev–as in half of the city capitals of Europe–there is a center specialized in assisted reproduction and surrogacy called BioTexCom. During the lockdown of 2020, it placed over 60 children born to surrogate mothers in a hotel, waiting to sell them. This very company is now offering “a 3% discount on ‘packages’”, but “you have to hurry: the contract must be signed between the 15th and 26th November”.

This is unprecedented violence against the individual, a crime against humanity, and an abhorrent violation of human rights. Yet there is no parliament, no supranational organization, no European Union, no UN, no NGO that will take to the streets and prevent this abomination.

In a few days and as a result of our investigation (come back to these pages to read us again), we will write about another absurdity of our well-thinking world; which happens to be sinking like the Titanic. And quietly, so.

No rioting in the streets, no protests… nothing.

How long can our civilization continue to slaughter itself like this before an ocean drowns us all?

How long?
