Thousands of people gathered at the March for Life in Paris in mid-January to protest against the inclusion of a so-called right to abortion in the French constitution as well as the legalization of euthanasia.
Marchers gathered at Gare Montparnasse at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 22, and walked to Place Vauban, where the event ended with a closing rally at 5:30 p.m. According to the organizers, 20,000 people took part in the protest march.
The demonstration was largely peaceful. Only five activists from the feminist group FEMEN attempted to disrupt the March for Life with bare torsos and red paint on white shorts. The women were swiftly taken into custody by police and released after seven hours.
