Le terme ROGD est utilis\u00e9 pour d\u00e9crire les adolescents sans ant\u00e9c\u00e9dents de troubles li\u00e9s au genre avant la pubert\u00e9 qui \u00e9prouvent soudainement une confusion de genre.<\/p>\n<p>Leor Sapir, membre du Manhattan Institute, ainsi que les chercheurs Lisa Littman et Michael Biggs, ont critiqu\u00e9 l&rsquo;\u00e9tude de Jack Turban qui r\u00e9futait l&rsquo;existence de la ROGD. Publi\u00e9e dans les Archives of Sexual Behavior, leur lettre affirme que la recherche de Turban est bas\u00e9e sur des enqu\u00eates obsol\u00e8tes et ne tient pas compte des individus qui peuvent renoncer \u00e0 une identit\u00e9 transgenre \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e2ge adulte.<\/p>\n<p>De nombreux membres de la communaut\u00e9 des activistes transgenres rejettent le ROGD, qu&rsquo;ils consid\u00e8rent comme une remise en cause de la croyance selon laquelle le fait d&rsquo;\u00eatre transgenre est une caract\u00e9ristique inn\u00e9e et immuable. Ils affirment que les enfants qui semblent souffrir d&rsquo;une dysphorie de genre soudaine nourrissent probablement ces sentiments en interne depuis des ann\u00e9es. Cependant, Sapir affirme que la r\u00e9cente augmentation du nombre d&rsquo;adolescents, en particulier de filles, qui s&rsquo;identifient comme transgenres correspond davantage \u00e0 la ROGD.
