{"id":94338,"date":"2021-09-14T11:50:49","date_gmt":"2021-09-14T15:50:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ifamnews.com\/?p=94338"},"modified":"2021-09-14T11:50:50","modified_gmt":"2021-09-14T15:50:50","slug":"regrettable-supremeinjustice-in-mexico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ifamnews.com\/en\/regrettable-supremeinjustice-in-mexico","title":{"rendered":"The decriminalization of abortion in Mexico &#8211; #SupremeInjustice"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Mexico&#8217;s Supreme Court of Justice declared Thursday, September 9 that Article 4 of the Constitution of Sinaloa, which protects the right to life from conception, should be annulled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It argues that the Supreme Court does not define when human life begins and therefore neither can local congresses in their constitutions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Excuse me? So, if Supreme Court justices can&#8217;t read scientific evidence, does that mean no one else can either?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Is there any scientific debate about the beginning of human life? None! On the contrary, there is a clear consensus that human life begins at the moment of conception. And it has even been affirmed that at that moment of conception, a unique and unrepeatable human life begins, different from all the others, with a unique fingerprint, whose heart will begin to beat in a very short time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All first-year medical graduates can attest to this scientific evidence endorsed by 100% of the world&#8217;s medical schools. But Mexico&#8217;s Supreme Court can&#8217;t read?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is something worse than professional incapacity, and that is<strong> <\/strong>judicial activism. The Court&#8217;s failure (how well said) violates the first and foremost of the human rights: the right to life. How can it be that the judicial body in charge of the defense of human rights is violating the first of these rights? That&#8217;s how serious it is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But there&#8217;s more. The Supreme Court\u2013or the #SupremeInjustice as it has been renamed in social media\u2013has violated the federal pact and the sovereignty of the states. It turns out that 23 states in Mexico&#8217;s local constitutions protect the right to life from conception. But the #SupremeInjustice says that this is a dead letter, ignoring the sovereignty expressed in the congresses. Respect the institutions!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Progressives all over the world have applauded the decision\u2013even in advance\u2013and welcomed it with enthusiasm worthy of a better cause. But we don&#8217;t give up.
