As you probably just heard, Andrew Cuomo has just announced that he will be resigning as governor of New York State. The New York State Attorney General had recently issued a report that found Cuomo had sexually harassed at least eleven current or former female employees, and one woman has recently filed a criminal complaint against him for such conduct. Significantly, though, while Cuomo\u2019s conduct is reprehensible, he is just the latest in a long list of Democrats who, despite calling themselves \u201cchampions for women,\u201d have sexually used and abused women in the most demeaning ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Long-term Democratic Senator and former presidential candidate Ted Kennedy (D-MA) was a notorious womanizer, who even killed one of his lovers when he drunkenly drove his car off a bridge and the lady drowned. Democratic President Bill Clinton was one of the worst womanizers both in and out of the White House and was accused of rape and sexual harassment by several women. Indeed, two women (Juanita Broderick and Eileen Wellstone) accused him of raping them, a third (Kathleen Wiley) accused him of groping her, a fourth (Leslie Millwee) accused him of sexually assaulting her, and a fifth (Paul Jones) accused him of exposing himself and sexually harassing her. Even the Oval Office was not off-limits to Clinton\u2019s inappropriate behavior; indeed, it was there that he sexually took advantage of a young White House intern (Monica Lewinsky).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then there is former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, who resigned from office in 2008 after it became public that he regularly frequented prostitutes both while governor and attorney general. And in 2018 Democratic Senator Al Franken (D-MN) had to resign his seat after several women credibly accused him of inappropriate sexual touching over many years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And now, Governor Coumo has been added to the list.\u00a0After reviewing the facts, one would not be wrong for concluding that sexual harassment and assault appear to be accepted practices in the Democratic party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Importantly, all this is not to say that Republican hands are clean; they, too, have at times engaged in such conduct (albeit on a much smaller scale). But with such a deplorable track record regarding sexual use and abuse, isn’t it disingenuous for the Democratic Party to claim that it is the champion <\/em>of women? All too often, Democrats have been the chief abusers<\/strong> of women. It is time for female voters\u2013who typically vote more Democratic\u2013to view the record for themselves and think twice before voting for a Democrat again; not to mention, being left alone with a Democratic politician.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" They boast being “champions” for women, but oft-times they are their abusers.
