And it is hardly\nhis first courageous act to protect the unborn. Within three days of taking\noffice, he signed an executive order defunding International Planned Parenthood\nby reinstating and expanding the \u201cMexico City Policy,\u201d which prevents funding\nof groups that promote or perform abortions overseas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Abortionists everywhere, including in the United Nations, fulminated\nagainst the newly elected pro-life president, who proceeded without blinking. Among\nhis many <a href=\"https:\/\/sba-list.org\/trump-pro-life-wins\">accomplishments<\/a>\nfor the unborn, he appointed dozens of pro-life judges including two Supreme\nCourt justices, expanded conscience protections for medical workers who believe\nit is wrong to kill an unborn baby, increased religious exemptions for\nObamacare, and thwarted a proposed UN resolution supporting abortion. In his\n2019 State of the Union Address, he castigated the governors of New York and\nVirginia for promoting abortion up to birth and infanticide, and urged Congress\nto pass a ban on late-term abortions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, on January 21, 2020, President Trump designated the\nnext day\u2014January 22, anniversary of the notorious <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> decision in 1973\u2014as National Sanctity of Human Life\nDay, on which \u201cour Nation proudly and strongly reaffirms our commitment to\nprotect the precious gift of life at every stage, from conception to natural\ndeath. Every person\u2014the born and unborn, the poor, the downcast, the disabled,\nthe infirm, and the elderly\u2014has inherent value. Although each journey is\ndifferent, no life is without worth or is inconsequential; the rights of all\npeople must be defended.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In President Ronald Reagan\u2019s 1989 Farewell Address to the\nNation, he shared his vision of America as a \u201cshining city on a hill,\u201d echoing\nwhat Puritan leader John Winthrop had declared to his shipmates before landing\nat Massachusetts Bay in 1630. How can Americans fill such a tall order?
