One question all should ask themselves, in the deep, the very deep of their\nhearts, be they secular or believer, agnostic or religious, is: What kind of society\nwe ended up building?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first cause of death in the world is abortion. We die less, much\nless, from diseases, smoking, alcohol, road accidents, murders and wars. In\n2019, the silent holocaust of abortion\u2014\u2012according\nto the\nWorld Health Organization, using data processed by the well-known and\nauthoritative website of statistics Worldometers<\/a>\u2014cost 42.4 million\nvictims. A sad record of 2019, but one that follows a long trend. How many abortions\nhave already been performed in these first 22 days of the year 2020 can be seen by\neveryone here, updated<\/a> minute by minute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whole countries are slowly sliding into nothingness, swallowed up in a\ndemographic chasm that forecasts only extinction. In Europe, the birth rate is\n1.3 children per woman, well below the 2.1 needed for natural generational\nreplacement. The numbers vary according to country, but since 2008 the trend\nhas been declining throughout the Old Continent; in Russia, for example, it\u2019s\nfrightening. Experts call it \u201cdemographic winter\u201d, and it freezes the blood in\nyour veins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not a single day passes without some new form of harassment for the\nfamily conceived and institutionalized in this or that country: starting from\ndivorce\u2014now considered normal almost everywhere\u2014the family as\nin institution suffers daily assaults which, under the shape of attacks to\nparenting, freedom of education, and economic sovereignty, gradually and\ninexorably erode its strength and endurance. But a society that is not a family\nof families is only a mass of monads, acting more or less madly, which confusedly\nstir without any horizon, constantly clashing; and in fact our world ages,\nslows down, loses hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Families are also attacked by unnatural lifestyles such as\nhomosexuality, while \u201ctransgenderism\u201d\nis considered the new normal<\/a> almost everywhere. Add to this overflowing\npornography, and drugs as a symbol of final human liberation, and the resulting\npicture is simply chilling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And even once we manage to save our neck,\ndribbling in this absurd landscape, we have then always to face the last\nobstacle: euthanasia, promoted and imposed, even with an eugenic logic, by an\nincreasingly totalitarian cultural, legal, political and medical power base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, voices and efforts of an opposite sign\narise, voices and efforts still convinced of the sublimity of human life and\nstill in love with the beauty of the family. They labor and struggle, but they exist.\nThis is why International Family News<\/em> is here today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIFamNews\u201d is here born today to witness this\ndifference, to give it a voice and to support it, while at the same time, duly\nalarmed, denouncing everything that is wrong. Our professionality cannot, in\nfact, blind our eyes and prevent us from seeing the road to destruction that mankind\nis now walking. The only real ecology is human ecology\u2014and we haven\u2019t given up\nyet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIFamNews\u201d will strive to tell the truth every\nday and to contribute, in its small way, to make the repulsion of this culture\nof death and destruction grow in the world, starting within our families, among\nour friends, in our communities, in and for our countries. We are in fact\nconvinced that there is still beauty to fight for and that good still exists in\nthis world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our duty is to inform, and we will always try\nto do it at our best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This fascinating\ndaily adventure\u2014which I have been honored to be called to supervise as\nEditor-in-Chief\u2014will never be possible without each and all of you. Personally,\nI will carry it on animated by one and only conviction, roundly expressed by a\npassage in J.R.R. Tolkien\u2019s The Lord of the Rings<\/em>: \u201c\u2026[i]t is not\nour part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the\nsuccour of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields\nthat we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
