Hawley\u2019s bill would forbid <em>any<\/em> ACA plan\u2014federally or state-subsidized\u2014from covering abortions except in cases of rape, incest, or when the mother\u2019s life is at risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to abortion, Hawley\u2019s proposal would explicitly ban coverage of gender transition treatments (drugs or procedures) for minors under ACA plans. He argues that medical plans should not sanction irreversible interventions on children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hawley framed his move as part of the broader negotiations happening amid a government shutdown.
