Members of the newly-formed Manchester Pro-Life Society reportedly faced disturbing threats and harassment during one of their initial meetings at the University of Manchester. Evidence suggests they were forced to relocate their meeting three times due to disruptions from an array of activists. Some protesters, chanting aggressive slogans, allegedly intimidated the pro-life students, who were subjected to verbal abuse, including rape threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In response, society committee member Inge expressed dismay at the atmosphere of hostility violating their peaceful presentation. Describing the incidents as “unthinkable,” she underlined the core mission of the society to support pregnant women and promote dialogue around essential societal issues. As calls to disband the society grow, the University\u2019s Students\u2019 Union has defended its stance, stating that differing legal views of students do not justify prohibition of society formation.
