In a last-minute intervention, attorneys of the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) have halted Washington D.C.’s move to eliminate the remains of five babies who were subject to terminations potentially in violation of the law. The case began two years ago when pro-life advocates discovered 115 aborted fetuses in medical waste from a late-term abortion center in the nation’s capital. Five of these appeared to be close to full term, raising suspicions of illegal partial birth abortions or infanticide.<\/p>\n
Advocates have been pressing for an investigation into the case, which so far seems to have been overlooked by D.C. officials and the Biden administration. The latter recently ordered the destruction of the babies’ corpses, potentially eliminating pivotal criminal evidence.<\/p>\n
However, the American Center for Law and Justice successfully forestalled this action. Reprieve came when the ACLJ, preparing to file a lawsuit, managed to get the D.C. government to assure them that the planned cremations would be postponed.<\/p>\n
The case has also piqued the interest of Congress subcommittee chairmen, who requested the D.C. authorities to preserve the babies’ remains.
