Scientists from the LGBT community have started a biotech firm with the express purpose of seeking to manufacture human eggs and sperm in a lab so that same-sex couples can produce children containing the DNA of both partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The biotech startup, based in the San Francisco Bay Area, is called Conception. The technology they are developing \u2013 \u201cin vitro gametogenesis\u201d (IVG) \u2013 is designed to harvest human stem cells, manipulate them using a variety of laboratory techniques into what is called an \u201cinduced pluripotent stem cell,\u201d and then further manipulate and incubate them in what the company calls \u201cmini ovaries.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If the experimental technology pans out, the human egg created in a lab with the DNA of a gay man in a same-sex relationship could be fertilized by the sperm of his partner, and then the resulting embryo would be carried by a surrogate through to the birth of a baby that is genetically related to both men.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lesbians could also use the technology to create sperm, allowing them to have babies with genes from both women. Transgender couples could also have biologically related babies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So much is wrong about this situation. The creation of lab babies to satisfy the desires of LGBT activists is morally and ethically bankrupt. It not only challenges the natural order created by God, but it raises extremely serious concerns relating to issues such as human cloning, designer babies, eugenics and even cross-species development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the co-founders of Conception, a gay man, says his biggest interest in the IVG technology they are developing, \u201cis [to] allow same-sex couples to be able to have biological children together.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another Conception co-founder, also a gay man, says, “It’s really exciting to be working on a technology that can change the lives of millions of humans. There is something intrinsic about sharing a life that is half me and half my husband. I don’t have that capacity right now. I am devoting my life to trying to change that.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Conception has already raised nearly $40 million to fund their operations, and has a staff of more than 40 people, including dozens of scientists, working on their experimental technology. They are but one of several labs around the world racing to develop, and then commercialize, IVG technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These mad scientists are playing God. Left unchecked, they could unleash all kinds of dystopian scenarios, all while claiming to be pursuing progress and \u201cequity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This could take us into a kind of Gattaca world\u201d says the head of a nonprofit group focused on genetic and assisted reproductive technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The media will try to portray IVG in sympathetic terms. Already the uber-liberal (and taxpayer funded) NPR is positioning the technology as a compassionate development to help women who are facing cancer treatment, those who have never been able to produce healthy eggs and women whose eggs are no longer viable due to age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But as hard as the left tries to put a positive spin on this dystopian technology, the harsh reality of IVG, as the homosexual co-founders of Conception readily admit, is that the technology is being developed by LGBT scientists for the express purpose of artificially assisting same-sex couples to defy nature and produce babies that are genetically related to both partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
IVG is a fast-moving challenge to the natural order. The co-founders of Conception claim they will succeed in proving their technology within a year. Others in the scientific community are skeptical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Elected officials in America and around the world should not wait to see if experimental IVG technology comes to fruition. They should move expeditiously to prohibit this grotesque experimentation. At a minimum, officials must strictly regulate the use of this technology and hold all those involved in it strictly liable for any resulting harm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
