{"id":180050,"date":"2023-01-27T11:58:00","date_gmt":"2023-01-27T16:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ifamnews.com\/?p=180050"},"modified":"2023-01-27T05:01:06","modified_gmt":"2023-01-27T10:01:06","slug":"m-amp-m-madness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ifamnews.com\/en\/m-amp-m-madness","title":{"rendered":"M&#038;M madness"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As if the culture\/gender\/woke wars weren\u2019t ridiculous enough, they have a new battlefield that takes the cake when it comes to the level of ridiculousness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Monday of this week, M&amp;M\u2019s announced that it was \u201ctaking a break\u201d from its \u201cbeloved spokescandies.\u201d The <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mmschocolate\/status\/1617518785686274052?cxt=HHwWiIDQ5f-wyvIsAAAA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Tweet<\/a> is below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>America, let\u2019s talk. In the past year, we\u2019ve made some changes to our beloved spokescandies. We weren\u2019t sure if anyone would even notice. And we definitely didn\u2019t think it would break the internet. But now we get it\u2014even a candy\u2019s shoes can be polarizing. Which was the last thing M&amp;M\u2019s wanted since we\u2019re all about bringing people together.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>In case you weren\u2019t up on your woke ridiculousness, the \u201cpolarizing\u201d changes that M&amp;M\u2019s is talking about are some slight physical changes to the M&amp;M \u201cspokescandies.\u201d Green M&amp;M\u2019s too-sexy heeled boots were replaced with sneakers, and Brown M&amp;M\u2019s stilettos were swapped for more sensible pumps. The eyelashes of both were also made shorter and less alluring. All of the M&amp;Ms got new arms and legs that matched their shell color, replacing the tan arms and legs. And in the spirit of \u201cinclusivity,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tasteofhome.com\/article\/purple-mm-character\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Purple M&amp;M was introduced<\/a>. With her lace-up combat boots, she was intended to represent \u201cacceptance and inclusivity,\u201d and even comes with her own song\u2014\u201cI\u2019m Just Gonna Be Me.\u201d Orange M&amp;M is embracing his anxiety disorder. Mars (the parent company of M&amp;M) is also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/pop-culture\/pop-culture-news\/mms-are-getting-new-look-become-inclusive-people-jokingly-think-hotter-rcna12935\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">leaving behind<\/a> gendered prefixes like \u201cMr.\u201d or \u201cMs.,\u201d instead focusing on &#8220;their personalities, rather than their gender.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among others, Tucker Carlson went a little nuts\u2014calling the candies \u201cwoke M&amp;Ms.\u201d Twitter users had a fun time, with many calling for the return of the \u201chot\u201d Green M&amp;M. But Mars nonetheless suspended the \u201cspokescandies,\u201d instead announcing its new spokesperson\u2014SNL comedienne Maya Rudolph. Is the candy giant serious? Is this just one big publicity stunt, intended to increase excitement for the M&amp;M\/Rudolph Super Bowl ad?
