To do what? To celebrate, to promote, to protect\u2014the family.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was speaking at the opening of the three-day <a href=\"https:\/\/wcfmexico.org\/home-en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">World Congress of Families XIV<\/a>, by far the largest such Congress in history\u2014more than 9,000 strong\u2014and widely hailed as the greatest so far. And it could not have been timelier. To paraphrase Charles Dickens\u2019 opening line in <em>A Tale of Two Cities<\/em>, this best-ever pro-family global event has come just when the world is experiencing the worst-ever attack on the family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the previous quarter century, the global gatherings of the World Congress of Families had already made a colossal impact. Colleagues touted them as \u201cvery empowering,\u201d a veritable \u201cresurgence in the global battle for the defense of the natural family,\u201d and \u201cthe preeminent global gathering of scholars, policy-makers, and activists who care about the natural family.\u201d Most impressive was the statement by President George W. Bush: \u201cI commend your efforts to recognize the importance of families in building nations. Your work improves many lives and makes the world better.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the 2022 World Congress in Mexico City exceeded all expectations, thanks to the Herculean efforts of Organizing Committee chairman Fernando Milan\u00e9s and his talented team, working in conjunction with the International Organization for the Family. The results were monumental, as expressed in comments from those in attendance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u201cWhat a joy to have been able to participate and enjoy something so great.\u201d<\/li><li>\u201cI think this is the Congress that I have enjoyed the most.\u201d<\/li><li>\u201cThanks again for the amazing experience. I can&#8217;t convey how appreciative we are for all of your heroic efforts.\u201d<\/li><li>\u201cA very uplifting experience for my marriage.\u201d<\/li><li>\u201cWhat a Congress!!! The teens and youth programs were spectacular!!!\u201d<\/li><li>\u201cWonderful event! Thank you for thinking of each of the members of the family to train us together: children, teens, young people!\u201d<\/li><li>\u201cExcellent Speakers, varied format of conferences, panels and interviews and most importantly, networking and starting to materialize projects, teamwork and\/or study groups, etc.\u201d<\/li><li>\u201cI&#8217;m leaving very satisfied, exceeding my expectations!! But above all with great hope knowing that there are serious and very prepared people fighting and planning important and effective strategies to defend life and family!!\u201d<\/li><li>\u201cIt was a great injection of energy to continue advocating for the family. THANK YOU!!!!\u201d<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Why this Congress evoked such adulation becomes apparent in a highlight <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=5Yu_-buo36g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">video<\/a> and in several of the plenary presentations posted online, including those of <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/crsoWV01z74\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cardinal M\u00fcller<\/a> (speaking in Spanish), <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/tcuyO_LEPw8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Princess Gloria<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/-tE6pfjRrVc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jim Daly<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/1zyGE6DbhU0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Elder Wilford Andersen<\/a>, who quoted from religious leaders of different faiths but with a unified vision of the family:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Over a decade ago at your World Congress of Families in Amsterdam, the following warning was sounded: \u201cOn all sides, the family is under attack. Nelson, who now serves as President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints&#8230;. Pope Francis recently declared, \u201cEvery threat to the family is a threat to society itself\u2026. The future of humanity passes through the family. So protect your families!
