Over the past eighteen months, the State of Victoria and the Australian Capital Territory have introduced laws that threaten jail time to parents who defend the biological sex of their children. And Victoria state law is able to find them out and prosecute them even if they move their children to another state in the federation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A similar bill has now been proposed in New South Wales by Independent MP Alex Greenwich. His &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.smh.com.au\/politics\/nsw\/world-is-watching-mp-seeks-equality-bill-ahead-of-worldpride-and-state-election-20220317-p5a5ht.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Equality Bill<\/a>&#8221; is wide-ranging and, among other provisions, it includes gender self-identification (with all that this entails in sports and in the use of public sanitary facilities), the cancellation of conscientious objection for religious reasons (with consequent repercussions on Christian schools) and prison for parents who want to prevent gender transition\u2013including surgery\u2013for their children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Greenwich issued a cross-party call to all political forces to work together on the bill.
