And they have a flag to show it.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/governor.nebraska.gov\/press\/proclamation-officially-recognizes-pro-life-flag-nebraska\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lieutenant Governor Mike Foley <\/a>announced the official adoption of the pro-life world flag January 28 in consultation with governor Pete Ricketts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s a symbolic gesture of enormous value that the State of Nebraska aims at cementing a sense of unity for the pro-life movements in the state. The flag shows the footprints of a child (blue and pink to represent both genders), surrounded by the hands of the mother; an emblem of the two lives involved in the journey that is pregnancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Nebraska is a pro-life state. We now have a state recognized pro-life flag to celebrate babies and the mothers who nurture them in the womb <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/ProLife?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#ProLife<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/qEZaaOgVcG\">pic.twitter.com\/qEZaaOgVcG<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Pete Ricketts (@PeteRicketts) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PeteRicketts\/status\/1487127991880765452?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 28, 2022<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Nebraska citizens,&#8221; explains Lieutenant Governor Foley, &#8220;are acting consistently and courageously to protect prenatal life by volunteering at pregnancy centers, helping expectant mothers, giving generously to young families, participating in marches and prayer vigils, and demonstrating support for life by displaying signs along highways throughout the state.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-death-threats-to-pro-life-senator\"><strong>Death threats to pro-life senator<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This important decision by Nebraska&#8217;s institutional leadership came less than a week after the anniversary of <em>Roe vs. Wade<\/em> (Jan. 22, 1973); an anniversary for which Governor Ricketts called a day to campaign<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/s\/lrrb8fj9r45kwus\/2022%20A%20Statewide%20Day%20of%20Prayer.jpg?dl=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> an end to abortion, stating<\/a>, &#8220;Nebraska is a pro-life state. Nebraska law states that it is the will of the people of Nebraska and its Congressmen to protect, whenever possible, the life of the unborn.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Nebraska legislature is promoting a law that prohibits abortion after the detection of a baby&#8217;s heartbeat in the womb, similar to the one that came into force in Texas on September 1. Speaker of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/nebraska-abortion-heartbeat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bill<\/a> is 25-year-old Republican Senator Julie Slama, who has received <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/rape-death-threats-nebraska-senator-heartbeat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rape and death threats<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To dilute the tension, the young Senator <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenatorSlama\/status\/1479193290352300035?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tweeted<\/a>, &#8220;The threats I have received are in stark contrast to the positive and hopeful message of the pro life movement.
