{"id":114694,"date":"2022-01-14T14:23:46","date_gmt":"2022-01-14T19:23:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ifamnews.com\/?p=114694"},"modified":"2022-01-14T14:23:48","modified_gmt":"2022-01-14T19:23:48","slug":"will-finland-arrest-a-former-minister-for-being-christian","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ifamnews.com\/en\/will-finland-arrest-a-former-minister-for-being-christian","title":{"rendered":"Will Finland arrest a former minister for being Christian?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>P\u00e4ivi Maria Kuvaja R\u00e4s\u00e4nen, born in 1959, is the mother of seven children, grandmother of five grandchildren, a physician and Finnish politician. She has been a member of parliament since 1995 in the ranks of <em>Suomen Kristillisdemokraatit<\/em>, the Christian Democratic Party of Finland, and is now its leader. She also served as Minister of the Interior from June 2011 to May 2015. In recent months, R\u00e4s\u00e4nen has ended up on the grill of political correctness. Her &#8220;crime?&#8221; Having published a book in 2004 entitled <em>Mieheksi ja naiseksi h\u00e4n heid\u00e4t loi<\/em>, a title quoting verse 27 of the first chapter of <em>Genesis<\/em>, &#8220;Male and female He created them.&#8221; In 2019, exactly fifteen years later, someone filed a complaint against her. Hence began her ordeal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-hate-incitement\"><strong>Hate Incitement<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As she explains in an interview with the director of iFamNews, Marco Respinti, and published in the monthly magazine <a href=\"https:\/\/ifamnews.com\/it\/p-ivi-r-s-nen-e-la-gender-police\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>The Rudder<\/em><\/a>, &#8220;in the summer of 2019 I ended up on trial for three crimes and a new trial awaits me in the Helsinki District Court. And so it will go on, for years. I am accused of inciting hatred against a minority and this, in addition to a fine, can also result in imprisonment of up to two years.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-three-crimes\"><strong>Three crimes<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>R\u00e4s\u00e4nen explains what the three offenses in question are: &#8220;In a <em>tweet<\/em> two years ago, I questioned the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Church&#8217;s support of Helsinki LGBT Pride 2019 by posting verses from <em>Romans<\/em> 1:24-27. The complaint of the guy I referred to earlier started here: insulting minorities. The thing then turned into a trial of my past, therefore of the 2004 <em>pamphlet<\/em>: second offense, same accusation. The third crime charged against me is what I said on a Finnish Broadcasting Corporation <em>talk show<\/em> on the topic of &#8220;What would Jesus think about homosexuals?&#8221; where I repeated the things written in the <em>pamphlet<\/em> and recalled here.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-petition\"><strong>The Petition<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The trial will open on January 24. CitizenGo has launched <a href=\"https:\/\/citizengo.org\/it\/rf\/203457-essere-cristiani-non-puo-costituire-un-crimine?utm_source=wa&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=&amp;utm_content=tyflow\">a petition<\/a> addressed to the Attorney General of Finland, to support R\u00e4s\u00e4nen. &#8220;Punishing individuals who express an opinion like R\u00e4s\u00e4nen sets a very dangerous precedent,&#8221; it reads. &#8220;We urge you to make a decision in favor of R\u00e4s\u00e4nen by choosing to stand on the side of democracy and free
