{"id":10764,"date":"2020-03-08T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-03-08T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ifamnews.com\/?p=10764"},"modified":"2020-03-06T09:49:49","modified_gmt":"2020-03-06T14:49:49","slug":"women-abused-and-persecuted-for-being-christian","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ifamnews.com\/en\/women-abused-and-persecuted-for-being-christian","title":{"rendered":"Women Abused and Persecuted for Being Christian"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Women should be honored in their\nparticular excellence, for their complementarity to men, their difference and\ntheir unique feminine genius: this, as opposed to the lie that the world\nshouts, which reduces \u201cwomanhood\u201d merely to a role in sexual production. This\nlie is feminism, and it does not respect women. Today we should remember the\nhundreds of thousands of girls, women, even mothers, who have been raped,\nviolated, or abandoned all over the world: remember them in their dignity as\nhuman beings, as women, and as Christians. Looking at these victims, we soberly\ncome to better appreciation of the gift of being made as men and women, as\nfathers and mothers, as well as of the blessing we have to be able to fight for\nlife, family, and religious freedom for all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The missionary agency Open Doors\nhas published the <a href=\"https:\/\/opendoorsusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/GSPR-2020.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Gender-Specific\nReport on Religious Persecution 2020,<\/em><\/a> which studies global patterns of persecution of\nChristian men and women in 50 countries on Open Doors\u2019 \u201cWorld Watch List.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Discrimination and violence\nagainst Christians is a glaring fact, though ignored by the global mainstream\nmedia. Data shows that Christian men suffer physical violence, economic\nharassment, and the threat of incarceration for their faith; while Christian\nwomen are most likely to suffer rape, forced marriage, or physical abuse.\nSexual violence against women is reported in all of the countries studied by\nOpen Doors: it is becoming a global calamity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Open Doors shows how women\nspecifically are targeted for persecution and the primary forms this takes.\nTargeted specifically as Christian, women are often forced into marriages with\nspouses of different faiths, which is itself a form of abuse no less than the\nother physical violations they suffer. \u201cThese abuses,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/religionnews.com\/2020\/03\/03\/new-research-shows-sexual-violence-against-christian-women-is-a-global-calamity\/\">says<\/a> Open Doors Director David Curry, \u201care rooted in a\nview that sees Christian women as having inherently lesser value than men and\nwomen of other faiths.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thus, women and girls are often\nisolated from their community because they are \u201cbranded\u201d by the abuse they have\nsuffer, and are forced to suffer in silence, hidden in their \u201cforced marriage\u201d families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Curry further explains: \u201cSexual\nviolence is reported as the primary tactic of attacking women in 84% of\ncountries where religious persecution is already dangerous and widespread. It\nis an irreparable harm to the health, well-being, and personal and family\nautonomy of millions of women around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This happens especially in\ncountries particular hostile toward Christianity: in Asia, the Middle East, and\nNorthern and sub-Saharan Africa.
