Over 60 years ago Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev declared: \u201cWe will take America without firing a shot. We do not have to invade the U.S. We will destroy you from within.\u201d While America and the West were able to outlive the Soviet Union, which collapsed in 1991, and hence appeared to have defied the prediction, it appears that today in 2021 Khrushchev\u2019s words are indeed coming true. And it is another Russian, President Vladimir Putin, who has dared to speak the truth that the \u201cprogressive elites\u201d of America and the West do not want to hear\u2014that the neo-Marxist ideologies of identity politics and the LGBT agenda truly are doing what Soviet communism could not do–destroy the West from within.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a speech before the Valdai Discussion Club on October 22, 2021, President Putin noted how \u201cprogressivism\u201d is destroying the West and how the actions of \u201cprogressives\u201d have eerie parallels to what the Bolsheviks did after they took power in Russia in 1917. He stated:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe look in amazement at the processes underway in the countries which have been traditionally looked at as the standard-bearers of progress\u2026Some people in the West believe that an aggressive elimination of entire pages from their own history, \u2018reverse discrimination\u2019 against the majority in the interests of a minority, and the demand to give up the traditional notions of mother, father, family and even gender, they believe that all of these are the mileposts on the path towards social renewal.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
While progressives in the West may believe they are doing something truly novel, Putin noted that they are just merely repeating the same mistakes the communists made over 100 years ago:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe\u00a0advocates of\u00a0so-called \u2018social progress\u2019 believe they are introducing humanity to\u00a0some kind of\u00a0a\u00a0new and\u00a0better consciousness. Godspeed, hoist the\u00a0flags as\u00a0we say, go right ahead. The\u00a0only thing that I\u00a0want to\u00a0say now is that their prescriptions are not new at\u00a0all. It may come as\u00a0a\u00a0surprise to\u00a0some people, but Russia has been there already. After the\u00a01917 revolution, the\u00a0Bolsheviks, relying on\u00a0the\u00a0dogmas of\u00a0Marx and\u00a0Engels, also said that they would change existing ways and\u00a0customs and\u00a0not just political and\u00a0economic ones, but the\u00a0very notion of\u00a0human morality and\u00a0the\u00a0foundations of\u00a0a\u00a0healthy society. The\u00a0destruction of\u00a0age-old values, religion and\u00a0relations between people, up to\u00a0and\u00a0including the\u00a0total rejection of\u00a0family (we had that, too), encouragement to\u00a0inform on\u00a0loved ones\u2013all this was proclaimed progress and, by\u00a0the\u00a0way, was widely supported around the\u00a0world back then and\u00a0was quite fashionable, same as\u00a0today. By\u00a0the\u00a0way, the\u00a0Bolsheviks were absolutely intolerant of\u00a0opinions other than theirs.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
Putin then discussed how political correctness and identity politics are leading to crazy absurdities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLooking at\u00a0what is happening in\u00a0a\u00a0number of\u00a0Western countries, we are amazed to\u00a0see the\u00a0domestic practices which we, fortunately, have left\u2013I\u00a0hope\u2013in\u00a0the\u00a0distant past. The\u00a0fight for\u00a0equality and\u00a0against discrimination has turned into aggressive dogmatism bordering on\u00a0absurdity when the\u00a0works of\u00a0the\u00a0great authors of\u00a0the\u00a0past\u2013such as\u00a0Shakespeare\u2013are no longer taught at\u00a0schools or\u00a0universities, because their ideas are believed to\u00a0be backward. The\u00a0classics are declared backward and\u00a0ignorant of\u00a0the\u00a0importance of\u00a0gender or\u00a0race. In\u00a0Hollywood, memos are distributed about proper storytelling and\u00a0how many characters of\u00a0what color or\u00a0gender should be in\u00a0a\u00a0movie. This is even worse than the\u00a0agitprop department of\u00a0the\u00a0Central Committee of\u00a0the\u00a0Communist Party of\u00a0the\u00a0Soviet Union.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
He then remarked how identity politics is perverting the work of civil rights leaders such as Martin Luther King, Jr.:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCountering acts of\u00a0racism is a\u00a0necessary and\u00a0noble cause, but the\u00a0new \u2018cancel culture\u2019 has turned it into \u2018reverse discrimination\u2019; that is, reverse racism. The\u00a0obsessive emphasis on\u00a0race is further dividing people, when the\u00a0real fighters for\u00a0civil rights dreamed precisely about erasing differences and\u00a0refusing to\u00a0divide people by\u00a0skin color. I\u00a0specifically asked my\u00a0colleagues to\u00a0find the\u00a0following quote from Martin Luther King: \u2018I\u00a0have a\u00a0dream that my\u00a0four little children will one day live in\u00a0a\u00a0nation where they will not be judged by\u00a0the\u00a0color of\u00a0their skin but by\u00a0their character.\u2019 This is the\u00a0true value. However, things are turning out differently there. By\u00a0the\u00a0way, the\u00a0absolute majority of\u00a0Russian people do not think that the\u00a0color of\u00a0a\u00a0person’s skin or\u00a0their gender is an\u00a0important matter. Each of\u00a0us is a\u00a0human being. This is what matters.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
He then commented on how the radical ideology of transgenderism is leading the West down a path of destruction:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn\u00a0a\u00a0number of\u00a0Western countries, the\u00a0debate over men\u2019s and\u00a0women\u2019s rights has turned into a\u00a0perfect phantasmagoria. Look, beware of\u00a0going where the\u00a0Bolsheviks once planned to\u00a0go\u2013not only communalizing chickens, but also communalizing women. One more step and\u00a0you will be there. Zealots of\u00a0these new approaches even go so far as\u00a0to\u00a0want to\u00a0abolish these concepts altogether. Anyone who dares mention that men and\u00a0women actually exist\u2013which is a\u00a0biological fact\u2013risk being ostracized. \u201cParent number one\u201d and\u00a0\u201cparent number two,\u201d \u201c’birthing parent\u201d instead of\u00a0\u201cmother,\u201d and\u00a0\u201chuman milk\u201d replacing \u201cbreastmilk\u201d because it might upset the\u00a0people who are unsure about their own gender. I\u00a0repeat, this is nothing new. In\u00a0the\u00a01920s, the\u00a0so-called Soviet Kulturtraegers also invented some newspeak believing they were creating a\u00a0new consciousness and\u00a0changing values that way. And, as\u00a0I\u00a0have already said, they made such a\u00a0mess it still makes one shudder at\u00a0times.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
Tragically, he noted how progressives are targeting transgenderism at the young:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c[T]ruly monstrous things [are] when children are taught from an\u00a0early age that a\u00a0boy can easily become a\u00a0girl and\u00a0vice versa. That is, the\u00a0teachers actually impose on\u00a0them a\u00a0choice we all supposedly have. They do so while shutting the\u00a0parents out of\u00a0the\u00a0process and\u00a0forcing the\u00a0child to\u00a0make decisions that can upend their entire life. They do not even bother to\u00a0consult with child psychologists\u2013is a\u00a0child at\u00a0this age even capable of\u00a0making a\u00a0decision of\u00a0this kind? Calling a\u00a0spade a\u00a0spade, this verges on\u00a0a\u00a0crime against humanity, and\u00a0it is being done in\u00a0the\u00a0name and\u00a0under the\u00a0banner of\u00a0progress.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
If the West does not learn from the communist experience in Russia and repudiate these ideologies of identity politics and the radical LGBT agenda, Putin remarked, it risks going down the same ruinous path:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAgain, for us in Russia, these are not some speculative postulates, but lessons from our difficult and sometimes tragic history. The cost of ill-conceived social experiments is sometimes beyond estimation. Such actions can destroy not only the material, but also the spiritual foundations of human existence, leaving behind moral wreckage where nothing can be built to replace it for a long time.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
In his speech before the Valdai Discussion Club, Russian President Vladimir Putin voiced what many conservatives in the West have been saying for years: that the progressive neo-Marxist ideologies of identity politics and the LGBT agenda are destroying America and the West just like communism destroyed Russia in the 20th<\/sup> century. While progressive elites in the West will write off Putin\u2019s remarks as just mere propaganda, this does not mean that his words are untrue; even a flawed messenger can perceptively see the truth.
