WFMJ TV Community Relations Director dismissed following “straight pride” social media post

In a recent turn of events, WFMJ TV confirmed that its Community Relations Director, Madonna Chism Pinkard, was dismissed following a controversial “Straight Pride” Facebook post during June’s Pride Month. Madonna Chism Pinkard, a well-known figure at the Ohio-based station, shared the contentious post on her personal Facebook account, where she identifies herself as WFMJ’s community relations director.

Reportedly, the since-deleted post displayed a meme featuring a heterosexual couple newly wed, accompanied by the text: “Celebrate Straight Pride,” “It’s Natural, It Has Worked for Thousands of Years,” “And You Can Make Babies!”

The station deemed the incident worthy of an internal investigation. Following the inquiry, WFMJ released a statement announcing Pinkard’s termination, emphasizing its commitment to “respect and serve the entirety of its diverse community”.

Despite attempts to reach her for a comment, Pinkard has not responded to the news outlet’s request.
