Yale University is facing a federal civil rights complaint over its bathroom policies. The watchdog group Defending Education filed the complaint Thursday with the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights.
The complaint accuses Yale of violating Title IX and President Trump’s executive order protecting women from gender ideology. It alleges the university fails to ensure women have privacy in bathrooms without intrusion from biological males.
Yale has converted many campus bathrooms into “gender inclusive” facilities. A map posted by the university shows dozens of “all gender” bathrooms across its New Haven campus. Some dormitory floors have male and “all gender” bathrooms but no female-only bathrooms. A “Trans@Yale Survival Guide” confirms that “most bathrooms throughout Yale’s housing facilities are gender-neutral.”
Defending Education Vice President Sarah Parshall Perry said: “Yale University is one of the United States’ most prestigious educational institutions. It also happens to be one of the largest recipients of federal funding of any institution of higher education in the country. But despite its rich history and longstanding prestige, Yale seems content to follow the path of its woke sister ivies in prioritizing gender identity over biological sex, in apparent violation of Title IX.”
Yale receives significant federal funding. That funding is now directly at stake. Title IX was written to protect women — not to eliminate the last spaces where women can expect privacy from biological males.
