The exodus from tax crazy blue states

The Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated the already massive movement away from blue, tax heavy states, according to the non-partisan group the Tax Foundation.

The financial toll the pandemic has taken upon the country is evident in this departure from states with high income tax. While the population of the whole country grew only 0.1% last year, the underlying data proves this movement. For example, the report from the Tax Foundation shows that the population of New York, a heavily blue and tax laden state, decreased 1.8% from March 2020 to July 2021, whereas Idaho, with one of the lowest tax rates in the nation, saw its population increase by 3.8%.

Incidentally, the population shift is also one from blue to red states. While finances seem to be a major factor in this exodus, a shift in the political desires of the population may also play a part. For more in depth statistics, visit Fox Business.
