Teaching virtue and recovering a culture of marriage

Kids need and welcome an engaging story that shows the way, chapter by chapter, to developing their character and honing the virtues they admire.

Marriage, married happiness, large families, and a culture of the natural family, have been under successful attack for 70 years.

The destruction of family and morality have been such that a healthy reaction has grown up.  But there is much to rebuild.

During the 20th century, major damage to marriage and the family was perpetrated by those who instigated and financed Alfred Kinsey to publish his bogus conclusions of a criminally executed study concerning The Sexual Behavior of the Human Male, in 19481, followed by an equally disgusting The Sexual Behavior of the Human Female,2 in 1955.

The shocking and degrading contents of these books have been successfully shown by Dr. Judith Reisman to be the product of a deranged and cruel man.  Her initial study, called Kinsey, Sex and Fraud, the Indoctrination of a People,3 followed by Crimes and Consequences, and Stolen Honor, Stolen Innocence, demonstrate chillingly the evidently criminal experiments on children and prisoners which Kinsey performed under the aegis of the University of Indiana.

Building on this lamentable base, in 1968 when ‘the pill’ was established on the market, Paul Ehrlich was financed to write The Population Bomb,4 which reached “Best Seller” status, and a gullible public became convinced that there were too many children being born and that responsible parents should limit their families to 2 children.  Famously challenged by the economist Julian Simon, Ehrlich lost the bet5 that by 1986, millions would die of starvation and essential minerals would no longer be available.

Together with all of this, IPPF (International Planned Parenthood Federation) had a field day convincing the public of the need for “Sex Education,” pioneered by Margaret Sanger and largely funded by John D. Rockefeller, to indoctrinate school children in the loss of modesty and the acceptance of sexual deviancy.

Sex Education, pushed in schools, ended by convincing parents that sex was too complicated and best left to the ‘professionals,’ and so a great many families lost their children to the new ‘morality’ while, bowing to the spirit of the times, they did not help their children to strengthen their character nor did they insist upon the practice of virtue, losing almost completely the notion of universal values.

The degrading influence that hard rock and other types of new music have had is hard to describe, as young people are also submitted to truly unimaginable immorality in movies and TV. Rape and sexual violence enliven a constant menu of casual sexual encounters of heroes and heroines seemingly without families or natural attachments of any kind.

The statistics today in the United States concerning STDs among young people, according to the Centers for Disease Control,6 tell us that about 30 million young people are affected with these diseases. Statistics concerning infertility reflect this damage to young people.

The tragedies suffered by many young people are shown graphically by the statistics of Dr. Patrick Fagan, PhD,7 showing the correlation between the lack of marriage, father absence, and the failure of young people to succeed in many ways.  The traps of drugs, gangs and teenage pregnancy do affect a tragic number of young people and continue to enlarge the vicious cycle of poverty and misery.

The statistics are showing without a doubt that those with intact families succeed in leaving the ghetto and entering the middle class.

There is an enormous urgency to reach the young people who lack the culture of family and give them the knowledge and direction which can effectively guide them towards integrity, responsibility, and marriage so that they and their children can reach success in life.

Equally urgent is to confirm the young people from good, intact families in the knowledge, motivation and skills to be virtuous and choose their spouses intelligently so as to form solid families themselves.

Happily, many young people manage to keep their morality and their honor, but the social fabric of customs pertaining to finding a suitable marriage partner has been lost, and many good young people either cannot find husbands and wives or are discovering that they chose erroneously.

Hope for the future

Children and adolescents are in fact the world’s best material.  All children are born with an innate desire to love and be loved, and to do the right thing.  The first years of a child are spent learning the facts around them and figuring out how things and people work.  The curiosity of children and the capacity of observation of teenagers are well-known.

Brain science is confirming every day the importance of positive parenting in the essential task of raising children.  Concepts concerning the self, others, and reality must be infused, layer by layer, into the neural connections of the brains of the growing child and adolescent.

Positive parenting must offer a thorough, reasoned, and fun way for them to understand the logic of life, and a logical, positive, and understandable way to counteract the consumerist fantasy-world offered by TV and the current zeitgeist.

Positive parents need the cooperation of the schools in this important task, and after much research by a talented team, something really successful is now available. It is called Alive to the World. This is an integrated program designed for schools or extra-curricular activity, consisting of one hour per week. The 13 texts for students (K-12) are written as a continuous story about a varied group of children who age at the same rate as the students, encountering universal situations and options requiring intelligent and ethical reasoning. Sports, family, school situations, and friendships are the basis of the storyline, and universal virtues such as loyalty, generosity, courage, empathy, perseverance, patience, self-control, etc., are made attractive and understandable, while avoiding religious vocabulary so as to be useable in public schools.

The teacher guides for each level use a modern pedagogy which teachers in England and Africa, as well as Latin America, are finding very easy and attractive. The teacher-training courses are effective and are offered in various forms, from 16 hours, to college licentiate.  Digital versions in English and Spanish are available at BlinkLearning.

The desire to know, and the need, or yearning, to be a good person is written on our hearts by the time we are born. Our loving Creator has made us for Himself.  The world however is a confusing place, and today the purveyors of filth and vice are sending messages by every means.  Kids need and welcome an engaging story that shows the way, chapter by chapter, to developing their character and honing the virtues they admire.

All young people deserve to acquire the knowledge, the motivation, and the skills to find true love and a sure path to flourishing.
