The National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC), a legal advocacy organization, is targeting Mondelez International, the parent company of Oreo and Nabisco, over its support of LGBT children’s “rights”. The NLPC announced plans to challenge Mondelez at its annual shareholder meeting in May. It accuses the company of promoting LGBT activism, specifically through its relationship with PFLAG, an organization advocating for the rights of LGBT individuals.
According to the NLPC, Oreo has used its popularity and resources to push PFLAG’s agenda through numerous posts on social media outlets, including short films, special packaging, fundraisers, and more. PFLAG is critiqued by the NLPC for lobbying against laws aimed at protecting children from gender-related treatments and so-called “indoctrination efforts” before they reach adulthood and can make informed decisions.

Critics, including the NLPC, argue such corporate support indirectly promotes sexually explicit material targeted at minors. They warn of destructive impacts on the much-loved brand’s image and popularity. The NLPC has urged shareholders to express concern over this stance to the Mondelez board and CEO Dirk van de Put.
