More than one million participants: March for Life in Mexico

In Mexico City alone as many as 200,000 people walked for life. As recently as September 2021, the Mexican Constitutional Court ruled that the criminalization of abortion was unconstitutional.

More than one million people participated in nationwide rallies for the protection of unborn life in Mexico between 8 and 9 October, said the organizers.

According to the report, more than 200,000 people gathered in Mexico City alone. In all, in 30 of the 31 states there were rallies for women, the protection of human life and peace in Mexico.

At the central rally in Mexico City, a manifesto was read out by the organizers, in which several demands were made to the politicians. Among other things, the manifesto stated that laws should be enacted that causally address women’s problems and equally protect human life before and after birth without discrimination.

In September 2021, the Mexican Constitutional Court ruled that the criminalization of abortion was unconstitutional. Abortion is currently permitted up to 12 weeks of pregnancy in nine of Mexico’s 32 states.
