Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey is taking on Planned Parenthood Great Plains in court over allegations of illegal trafficking of minors across state lines for abortions without parental consent. The allegations stem from a controversial Project Veritas video that claims Planned Parenthood arranges for minors in neighboring Kansas to undergo abortions, far from the stricter pro-life protections under Missouri law.
In the recent hearing, Planned Parenthood called for Bailey’s lawsuit to be dismissed, deeming the board’s discussion in the video as “hypothetical.” However, Bailey’s office argued that despite the claimed scenario not being real, Planned Parenthood employees believed it was and responded accordingly.
Bailey believes that Planned Parenthood’s alleged actions violate Missouri law’s acknowledged parental rights, making life-changing, even life-ending decisions for minors without parental consent. Bailey expressed his confidence in the progress of the case, emphasizing Planned Parenthood’s history of alleged violations relating to health and safety, parental notification, and record retention laws in Missouri. Judge Brouck Jacobs is expected to decide on the case in a month.
