Jack Black, renowned actor and member of the band Tenacious D, has announced a halt to his tour following a backlash over controversial remarks by bandmate Kyle Gass. During a recent concert in Sydney, Gass, in response to a birthday wish invitation by Black, made a statement implying a wish for a successful assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. This sparked a wave of criticism against both Gass and Black.
Black swiftly distanced himself from these comments, stating his surprise and disapproval of such sentiments. He underscored his disdain for any form of hate speech or political violence. In light of the controversial incident, Black, in a statement to USA Today, revealed his decision to put a halt to the ongoing Tenacious D tour and paused all future creative plans for the time being.
This incident follows shortly after Black’s participation in a recent fundraising event for President Joe Biden. However, following Biden’s underwhelming debate performance, George Clooney, who was at the same fundraising event, published an op-ed expressing his concerns about Biden’s ability to run for re-election. Black, who had earlier shown public support for Biden, has made no comments about his political stance following the recent controversy involving his bandmate Gass.
