Germany: Christian Democrats push for nationwide ban on gender language

Bild magazine quoted Hamburg's CDU leader: "A seemingly liberal milieu wants to impose gender language against the will of a large majority of Germans. Often, dissenters are put under massive pressure to change gender as well."

The Christian Democratic Union (CDU) state chairman of Hamburg, Christoph Ploß, wants to have gender language banned in all schools, universities and government offices. This is suggested by the statements he recently made to the Bild magazine.

For example, Ploß commented, “A seemingly liberal milieu wants to impose gender language against the will of a large majority of Germans. Often, dissenters are put under massive pressure to change gender as well.”

The state chairman introduced a corresponding motion within the party. According to Bild, this is supported by the motion committee of the federal party and therefore has a good chance of being adopted at the federal party conference in Hanover.
