“Full House” star Candace Cameron Bure defends natural family

The Christian family should once again be at the center of Christmas movies. Because of this conviction, Cameron Bure has been the target of harsh criticism.

Candace Cameron Bure caused a stir earlier this week in an interview with the Wall Street Journal in which she talked about her move from the Hallmark Channel to Great American Family. The 46-year-old actress talked about how the GAF is a better fit for her professionally.

“My heart wants to tell stories that have more meaning and purpose and depth,” Bure told the WSJ. “I knew the people behind the Great American Family were Christians who loved the Lord and wanted to promote faith programs and good family entertainment.”

When asked if there will be LGBT storylines in these projects, she replied, “I think Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core.”

The remark caused a stir and she had to take harsh criticism from many celebrities.

“Honestly, I can’t believe after everything that went down just a few months ago, that she would not only create a movie with intention of excluding LGBTQIA+, but then also talk about it in the press. This is rude and hurtful to a whole community of people,” pop star JoJo Siwa shared on Instagram.

GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis also issued a statement responding to Bure’s comments.

“It is irresponsible and hurtful for Candace Cameron Bure to use tradition as an excuse for exclusion,” Ellis said, according to Deadline. “I would love to have a conversation with Bure about my wife, our children and our family’s traditions. Bure is out of step with a growing majority of people of faith, including LGBTQ people of faith, who know that LGBTQ couples and families deserve love and visibility.”

That Bure explicitly cites a personal conviction as the cause of her–understandable–decision proves that she has fallen victim to “mind control,” which does not even allow one to hold a particular opinion–if it is not a mainstream one.
