The European Union is squandering taxpayer funds on a slew of bizarre projects pushing Islamic integration and combating “Islamophobia,” all while citizens grapple with inflation, industrial decline, and fiscal austerity. A damning report exposes €32 million allocated to Islam-related initiatives, including €2 million for a University of Ghent study on Muslim women’s hairstyles and identities “beyond the veil.”
Over €3 million fuels anti-Muslim hatred programs like “Sustainable alliances against anti-Muslim hatred” and hate speech tracking in Italy. Add €10 million for the “European Koran” project and €17 million more on Sharia, Islamic culture, and traditions—priorities that reek of ideological pandering.
Meanwhile, Roma inclusion grabs €2.2 million for nine projects under 2022–2027 programs. Highlights include €200,000 for Roma cultural heritage itineraries, €38,000 for Lanciano-based events promoting Roma culture via concerts and workshops, €60,000 for a tennis program instilling “respect for rules,” and €700,000 for psychological support in Romania, Bulgaria, and Hungary. Over €320,000 combats “anti-Gypsyism” among youth, blaming exclusion solely on racism while ignoring deeper factors.
This extravagance unfolds as Member States face excessive deficit procedures, slashing public spending. Yet Brussels ignores the real crisis: Open Doors’ 2026 World Watch List reports 388 million persecuted Christians globally—up 8 million from last year—with 4,849 faith-based killings in 2023. Why fund symbolic gestures for minorities when Christians endure “deathtraps” in sub-Saharan Africa? These expenditures cross into self-referential absurdity, diverting billions from tax relief and security to prop up a politically correct agenda. Host communities bear migration burdens without aid, as EU elites chase legitimization over citizens’ needs. It’s time to halt this fiscal folly and refocus on Europe’s core values and economic survival.
