Democratic strategist James Carville has urged media outlets to amplify their biased coverage against former President Donald Trump to decrease his chances of winning in the upcoming elections. This comes after The New York Times’ executive editor, Joe Kahn, previously stated that the duty of news platforms is to cover what matters to the public, regardless if it is in favour of President Joe Biden or Trump.

Carville argued against this during an episode of the Politics War Room saying media supermarkets should move away from objectivity and play an active role to advocate against Trump and his allies. He went on to assert that the unique nature of the current political climate calls for more “slanted coverage”, insinuating that Donald Trump and his MAGA movement pose a direct threat to the US Constitution.

However, Carville’s co-host Al Hunt, disagreed with the “slanted” coverage approach, arguing instead for “fair coverage”. In response, Carville doubled down on his statement, insisting that “this is not ‘but on the other hand’ coverage.”
