Dave and Buster’s, a popular sports bar and arcade franchise, faced backlash after being listed as a sponsor for a “pride” event featuring a drag show by “youth entertainers.” The event, called Northeast Wisconsin (NEW) Pride Alive, is scheduled to take place at the Brown County Fair Grounds near Green Bay, Wisconsin. It will include drag shows, LGBT band performances, and other activities.

Early social media posts indicated that the Saturday event would feature a drag show by “youth entertainers,” and Dave and Buster’s was listed as the bar sponsor. However, updated advertisements on the LGBT organization’s website and Facebook page no longer mention Dave and Buster’s, and the “youth entertainers” performance is now described as an “Up and Coming” drag show.

The initial announcement of Dave and Buster’s affiliation with the event sparked backlash on social media, with some calling for a boycott of the restaurant. Concerned citizens in Brown County have been working to have the drag show shut down. The event organizers and Dave and Buster’s have not yet provided any clarification or comment on their involvement.

This controversy highlights the ongoing debate surrounding drag shows and their appropriateness for children. These events have no place in a decent society, and even considering them as appropriate for the entertainment of children is predatorial and deceptive.
