Benjamin Watson’s new book explores a holistic vision for pro-life advocacy

Former New England Patriots tight end, Benjamin Watson, has released a new book titled “The New Fight for Life Roe, Race, and a Pro-Life Commitment to Justice.” In this book, Watson aims to provide a vision for pro-life advocates in a post-Roe era, encouraging them to expand the cause beyond politics and focus on restoration for vulnerable communities. He emphasizes the importance of serving and equipping people to live healthy and full lives, alongside advocating for pro-life legislation.

Watson, now the VP of strategic relationships with the Human Coalition, a pro-life and pro-woman organization, reflects on the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade in the Dobbs case. He expresses both celebration and trepidation, wondering if the pro-life movement is ready for what comes next.

With the patchwork of abortion legislation varying from state to state, Watson acknowledges the different approaches taken by different states and the challenges they present. He believes that the new fight for life should involve a focus on justice, restoration, and addressing the circumstances that often lead women to choose abortion. Watson’s goal is to make abortion unthinkable and unnecessary by engaging the 76% of women who say they would prefer to parent their child if their circumstances were different.

The book highlights issues such as the role of fathers, inadequate housing, unreliable housing, education, and livable wages as factors that contribute to the vulnerability of women considering abortion. Watson advocates for addressing these circumstances in order to support and empower women to choose life.

Watson sees the defense of human dignity and the value of life as essential. He is committed to being an advocate and using the opportunities he is given to speak out and be involved in pro-life advocacy.
