Barcelona: Drag workshop for kids as young as 6

The workshop wanted to induce children to "ask ourselves what body we would like to build for ourselves."

The Spanish Foundation of Christian Lawyers has requested the Administrative Court of Barcelona to instigate precautionary measures in order to prevent a drag workshop from taking place in Terrassa for children as young as 6.

The activity is part of the Terrasa Nuevas Tendencias Festival organized by the City Council of Terrassa (Barcelona).

Christian Lawyers stated that the workshop violates the right to the protection of youth and childhood, the right of parents to decide on the education of their children and the duty of the city administration to be neutral.

The organization of lawyers said that the celebration of such activity implies “irreparable damage to minors and an ideological adhesion and imposition by a public administration through morally controversial activities that may result in confusion of the sexual self-perception of minors, gender dysphoria and other problems related to mental health.”

As described by the workshop organizers, during the activity “three Drag Queens will accompany us as we ask ourselves what body we would like to build for ourselves.” In addition, the event wants to “introduce the topic of gender flexibility from plasticity and cross-dressing.”

The president of Christian Lawyers, Polonia Castellanos, said that “politicians use their office to impose their ideology, even going so far as to violate our fundamental rights. This type of action should lead to the disqualification of the person responsible. We, parents, have the right to decide on the education that our children receive. Not only are these activities not educational, but they can be criminal.”
