The Republican Governor of Arkansas, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, recently signed an executive order with the aim of enforcing sex-specific terminology within the state’s government. This order, known as the “Executive Order To Eliminate Woke, Anti-Women Words From State Government And Respect Women,” was officially signed on October 19, positioning Arkansas as a leader in addressing so-called “gender fluid” or “gender-neutral” language within official government documents and state operations.

Emphasizing the importance of acknowledging the fundamental scientific differences between the sexes, the executive order asserts that “Women are women; an XX chromosome is an XX chromosome. The science is clear and real; there are things only women can do, like perform the miracle of birth.” It calls for government policies and language to respect and affirm these distinctions instead of adopting terminology which erases women.

The order, effective immediately, applies to all state offices, departments, boards, and commissions, prohibiting the use of exclusionary and sexist language in official state government business. Specific terms and phrases that are now prohibited include “pregnant people,” “chestfeeding,” “human milk,” and “womxn,” among others, with officials required to use terms like “pregnant women,” “breastfeeding,” and “woman.”

Governor Sanders, in an interview with Fox News, criticized “woke” and “gender-neutral” language as “insanity.” She asserted that the left’s attempts to redefine terms undermine the unique perspective and biological differences of women. Sanders sees this initiative as a means to combat the cultural shift that seeks to downplay these distinctions and claims that the state of Arkansas has had enough.

Governor Sanders has been a vocal opponent of “transgender” ideology infiltrating government policy, particularly concerning issues like transgender participation in women’s sports. She has also signed laws empowering individuals who underwent gender transitioning as minors to file malpractice suits and prohibiting students and staff at public or charter schools from using facilities not matching their biological sex. Additionally, she has taken measures to formally ban Critical Race Theory and LGBT indoctrination in the state’s public schools and restrict minors from attending sexualized performances.

As LGBTQ+ advocates push for their ideology to be incorporated into legislation and school curricula, Governor Sanders has established herself as a staunch political opponent, focusing on protecting the interests of women and children in Arkansas.
